  • GameShark CDX memory card

I recently got my Sharklink, brand new unopened, from eBay.
Having done some research prior to my purchase, it seemed clear that a Gameshark CDX had to be purchased separately.

What a surprise when I opened the package and found a Sharklink CD... which contained GameShark 3.4!!! (strangely though, the CD label says 3.3).
Unfortunately, just like any other GameShark CDX 3.x, a GameShark memory card "dongle" is required for it to work.

    So here are my questions:
1-Is this "dongle" a regular memory card with something else? That is, can you put game saves to it?
2-Can it be "cloned"? Let's say I have a DexDrive, can it read and copy its contents to a regular memory card?
3-It is my understanding that later GameShark CDX (v4 and v5) did not come with or require said dongle; however they did require a regular memory card. I was thinking maybe using one of these to let it write whatever it is that it writes to the memory card and try it with the 3.x to see if it works. Has anyone tried this?
4-Finally and probably the main question: is there any GameShark code I can use (say with the old GameShark/GameShark Pro devices) that would help bypass the GameShark CDX 3.x "dongle" request?

    Thanks!

      Thanks for the quick reply!

Could you elaborate on question# 4? Do you have and can you provide the needed code to bypass the dongle check? Or at least point me in the right direction?

Should be in these threads somewhere, I notified shalma of the problem and he fixed it for the various psx cheat engines both NTSC and PAL.

          Thanks kh2k4!

Now that I checked both links, I remember going through them some time ago when looking for some other info, and didn't keep them handy.
