  • Sega Mega CD Hacks & Patches

It's a simple Game Genie type code, but there was no cheat device for the Sega CD.

You need to patch the .ISO file with the attached file, which contains the patch, and the patching program.

It's an Almost Invulnerability code (Jim blinks all the time).

I was just messing around with trial and error on how to make codes for the Sega CD.

You can get the game from rom hustler...

Here's a really short video, just showing the patched game.

I made a couple more patches for other Sega CD games.
Remove the .txt extension and use the patcher above.

      That's GREAT!
      Thank you.
Can I ask you patch for other 3 games?
Corpse Killer, Loadstar and Final Fight CD. These games are very difficult to finish.
      Thanks in advance!

Corpse Killer and Loadstar I still have to download.

D0827254 is the CRC32 of the game Final Fight CD.ISO file before being patched.
I got it from Rom Hustler...

          Here's a Player 1 Infinite Health patch.
I added the .txt extension just to be able to attach it, so just remove .txt.

            ...silly question.
            How do you check CRC?

Here's the exact program I just used =P

              http://www.irnis.net/soft/xcsc/

What emulator (if any) are you using?
Fusion v3.64 don't seem to want to run my copy of Loadstar.

                I'm using Fusion 3.64.
Game loads and works normally for me.

I see that emu paradise also has Sega CD games, I'll try theirs.

I got it to load using Daemon Tools, I'm just having trouble making a code.
I'll try after getting some sleep.

I finally found the train's damage code for Loadstar.

The question is, how are you hex editing skills?
See after loading 2 copies (a proper rip, and an iso/mp3 rip), and mounting with daemon tools etc., I'm not sure which version I'm running lol.

But if you open your disc image with a hex editor and search for this hex string, you can easily manually patch your game.
                    Code:
                    28 6A 00 F8
After locating that hex string, simply replace the 9C with 00 (before the 28).

I'm not an expert but I managed to "hack" my iso file.

Shields at 100% and not decreasing!
                      Thanks

Nice guide, Mez! If I recall correctly, Tony Hedstrom made a similar guide years ago for Sonic CD. The more the merrier, though.

No problem, glad you knew how to modify the game!

Your right, I did happen to see that a couple days ago.

What games were those push-button codes for that you found for the Sega CD, if you can remember?

The only Sega CD game that I checked was Earthworm Jim: Special Edition. I didn't note the button cheat locations if I found them (I always do when I find them for a game). You probably got it confused with the Sega Saturn. The notes I made for the Saturn games I misplaced at the moment.

                              Oh, damn.
That's the #1 skill I would love to have one day, I would scan every game I could lookin' for new unknown cheats.
Maybe if you randomly have a crapload of free time someday, you could show an example of how to trace button presses for something easier than the PSX, like maybe the Game Gear.

Just one game real quick for now.
I plan to make many more Sega CD codes, but I want to get all the games first >.>

                              -------------------------------

                              Mickey Mania (E)
                              Invulnerability

You can manually patch an iso by finding the first instance of this string, and changing the byte before it to 00.
                              Code:
                              0000085379002006C00C79
                              Note:
The CRC32 for the unpatched .ISO is in the filename of the patch (for now on).

                              Edit:
                              Infinite Lives; find:
                              Code:
                              666D0000EE30390020
And change the byte before it to 00.

                              Invincibility; find:
                              Code:
                              2A33FC0001002006BE
And change the byte before it to 00.
