    Star Ocean The Second Story
    --------------------------------------------------------------
I've got some codes I'd like submitted to the database. I posted these at GameFAQs awhile ago with the intent of posting them here eventually. To see the codes posted in the original context go to:
    http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/19876...story/54108130

Not all of the codes at the page linked to were created by me so I've decided to post the ones that were here. Some are codes that achieve the same results as codes listed here but the ones here never worked for me so I found where in my games data they were hidden and made codes to suit my needs, I'll list those below with a big note when they start. There is also one code that simulates the effects of certain pieces of armor and weapons. It's a hugely complicated code with lots of problems... I'd love to see it posted but it currently is buggy and requires users to pretty much make their own codes. Not only do you have to modify what effects you want but also the code itself to comply with what party members you have. I'll let the mods here decide what to do with that code, it's listed in full detail at the link provided.

    Nice work!

Good to see another PSX hacker around.

I noticed a little problem you may want to fix:
    Code:
Always under influence of Orchestra 1
    800A416C 0032
    800A416D 0001
    800A416E 0032
You can easily make that code only 2 lines, or just make the 2nd line start with a 3 instead.

Press L1 to catch fish instantly (Hook fish, press L1 to catch. Sometimes doesn't work right away)

All faerie's have perfectly max stats
      50003c09 0000
      801f2705 0505
      50003c09 0000
      801f2707 0505

All faerie's have absurdly over max stats (Stat bars will appear empty but in reality you have 250 more points than is the legit max for any given stat)
      50003c09 0000
      801f2705 ffff
      50003c09 0000
      801f2707 ffff
These also have problems for instance the fearies codes ar 16bit but have odd enders maybe it should be this:

All faerie's have perfectly max stats
      50003c09 0000
      801f2704 0505
      50003c09 0000
      801f2706 0505

All faerie's have absurdly over max stats (Stat bars will appear empty but in reality you have 250 more points than is the legit max for any given stat)

      801f2704 ffff
      50003c09 0000
      801f2706 ffff

and this code for the Fish is also wrong, maybe it should be this:

Press L1 to catch fish instantly (Hook fish, press L1 to catch. Sometimes doesn't work right away)

The codes with odd values are only over writing the data they need to to achieve the result in as few lines as possible. I wasn't aware there was a problem with ending like that (what is the problem actually). I can't test the variants myself due to lack of time for the next couple weeks...

As for the orchestra code... I'll be damned if I could get that thing to work as just two lines. That code was a nightmare for me. Took a long time to even find the values and then it was the first code I ever made that was more than 1 line long. I'd be shocked if there weren't errors with it but it seems to work as is and that's all I cared about when making codes for myself. ^_^b

the problem is they will not work on a GS on an actual system some after market "game enhancers" can infact use odd ending addresses

The value is not the issue, the very last digit of the address line is what is.
            Don't worry, I think it's a common mistake.

I was doin' the same thing back in July 2009, and helder told me how to do it right. When I came back, in May 2010, I had forgot about the odd ending address thingy, and was doin' it again.

            I recommend you read lee4's post ( http://gshi.org/vb/threads/3617-Mez-...7437#post37437 )
It's the info that finally made it sink in for me...

Yep, that's one thing that made me think there was no problem with odd ending addresses. In my CodeBreaker disc, you can start a code with an 8 and end it's address with an odd number, but it just acts like you entered a 3 instead of the 8.

Not one of those links worked for me... probably because I have more posts per page displayed or something. Doesn't matter though because I'm pretty sure I know what you guys mean, I just worded myself badly. As an example, 80141452 would be a good code (but in the case of my codes modifies a value not needed for my code) but 80141453 wouldn't be as it started in the middle of a 16 bit address. It's a shame because generally I like to have codes take as few lines as possible and if I'm right in my assumption of what you guys mean then my codes with faults would have to be extended a line or two (aside from the Orchestra code, which just needed to have 2 lines combined into 1). So with the example again my code would need to be 30141453 and 30141454 to achieve the results I would need as 30141452 wouldn't be data relevant to the data changed by the code.

Although in the case of the Catch Fish code I'm still slightly unsure... I created the joker for that code myself, by holding a button finding a value then holding two buttons and searching for a higher value. PEC returned that address eventually... I'm seriously new to Joker codes so I have no idea how to mod the data I need to without using a odd ender for that line. I actually had to look at other codes with joker commands to figure out how the hell and what the hell they were doing (not having the net for that long was a pain).

I'd actually love to fire up Breath of Fire 3 and fix those codes... turns out I magically got some free time today so I may just do that. Just a little info about me, by the way, I've been making codes for games since the N64 era, using the Gameshark itself. Once I found out that I could find my own codes for games through emulation I almost instantly (like within 10 minutes of finding out) had every emulator that could make codes for every system that had games I liked. I've made NES, SNES, GEN, GBA and PSX codes. I've even modified games through Hex Editing (which is why I'm pretty sure I get what you meant when you said it ended odd) in fact a lot of the codes I posted were made using PEC and Hex Workshop... especially the Legaia codes. I actually mapped out the full data for the first two characters and was planning on doing the third but got burnt out by the time I got him. The summons codes for character 3 (who's name I forget, Gala I think...) could be created by finding the range between the first two characters but the Equips and other codes couldn't because I'd have to actually find his equips which is what was burning me out.

I've always liked making codes and I seem to think up a lot of codes that nobody has got around to making before, so whenever I play a game through emulation I have to make purpose made codes just because I love having that God-like control over a game. I'll probably even take some requests for the games I have and like at some point. I can't wait to start making PS2 codes and NDS codes... especially NDS codes, because there are only like 2 hackers for the NDS scene. I've learned a lot about code making from just self experimentation and careful study of the PEC cheat file. I'm actually mostly self taught, it's amazing what you can figure out by comparing values between codes and studying what they are doing and modifying.

              EDIT: 1
Okay. Working on my Faerie code right now, so I'll write kind of why the code was made the way it was while I make it compatible with real cheat devices. ^_^b

Faerie data begins at offset 001f2700 with the name of the first Faerie. Each name can be 5 characters and at offset 001f2705 that same Faerie's stats start. There are 4 stats for each Faerie. At offset 001f2709 you have Faerie 2 and so on and so forth. The data is kind of neat to look at actually because it lists every single Faerie even if you don't have them. I liked seeing all the weird names they came up with.

Anyway, unless I'm very much mistaken the revised code needs to be:
All faerie's have perfectly max stats
              50003c09 0000
              301f2705 0005
              50003c09 0000
              801f2706 0505
              50003c09 0000
              301f2708 0005

              and

All faerie's have absurdly over max stats (Stat bars will appear empty but in reality you have 250 more points than is the legit max for any given stat)
              50003c09 0000
              301f2705 00ff
              50003c09 0000
              801f2706 ffff
              50003c09 0000
              301f2708 00ff

I gotta make some lunch but after that I'll make another edit with the revised fishing code and orchestra code. I'm actually kind of happy that my plans for labor day weekend fell through last minute. Feels good to just sit on my butt for a weekend that normally costs me a couple hundred bucks.

              EDIT: 2
Wow, just checked the BS free pages and they have a joker code for BF3... and, yeah, it's D0145AA4. That's really weird, the code I posted totally works for me but when I checked Hex Workshop it shouldn't as it's not in the right spot. Hmm... clueless on that. This is what it should be then.

Press L1 to catch fish instantly
              d0145AA4 0400
              80144002 003e

              As for the orchestra code.

              "Orchestra 1
              800A416C 0132
              300A416E 0032

              "Orchestra 2
              800A4198 0132
              300A419a 0032

              "Orchestra 3
              800A4178 0132

Here's a couple little things that made me remember.
                TTWWWWWX YYZZ
                T=Codetype
                W=Address
X=If odd, then code type is 30, never 80; also, if odd, then YY=00
                Y=Even byte
                Z=Odd byte

Your same code I mentioned before:

                800A416D 0001
                800A416E 0032

Is trying to write 2 different values (00 and 01) at the address A416D.
One way to fix it, you can simply make each line only modify one byte instead of 2.

                300A416C 0032
                300A416D 0001
                300A416E 0032

                Or maybe this:
                800A416C 0132
                300A416E 0032

I'm seriously new to Joker codes so I have no idea how to mod the data I need to without using a odd ender for that line. I actually had to look at other codes with joker commands to figure out how the hell and what the hell they were doing (not having the net for that long was a pain).
The mistake I was making, that ended addresses with odd values for Button Activator Jokers, was doing 1 byte scan's instead of 2 bytes. If you make another one that ends in an odd address, just move back one code digit to an even ending.

The 'press these buttons to activate' kinda joker is one type, or you can do a code like this one for Kileak: The Blood 2 (JPN)

                300AB482 0002 - Than make it 02

My first code, using a console was on the PSP (Valhalla Knights 1 I believe). Before that, I was always just a code user.

Have you tried out Cheat Engine for searching for codes instead of PEC?

Make an easy to make code, that already exist, but use CE (Cheat Engine).
                Then:

                CE Code-GS Code=Emulated RAM Start
                RAM Start+200,000=RAM End
                CE-RAM Start=GS Code
Nove: All values are in hex

I was just wondering how long it takes on average for a code to get added to the database.

EDIT: Okay, I just noticed that I never actually posted the regions for those games. In all cases they are the U versions. So, yeah.

                  More codes now.

Just a reminder, none of these codes have been added yet. Figured I'd bump this topic since somebody made about 200 topics last night.

How 'bout this, I promise 'ya I'll have them all up by the end of the day.
Just been a little busy around the house, and with my new duties.

Also, tryin' to balance my time to enjoy my new toys (MDPro Flash Cart, and FF13)

                      Edit:
Well, at least I made a start for now.
I've added you as a hacker, and here's your page:
                      http://gshi.org/?s=v2&m=h&hid=819

This is what I've added so-far:
                      http://gshi.org/vb/threads/4312-%28P...e-Second-Story
                      http://gshi.org/?s=v2&sys=1&gid=106

And if you ask Hybrid nice enough, he'll rename your topic for 'ya

If I can say something he is right, can someone tell abystus to make one global post and add all his codes there, is kinda mess.

In the words of Parasyte "The only reason is to keep the forum consistent, and easy to search through." I understand this was a massive amount of codes to drop and most likely would have benefited from a single thread like my FCEUD codes but then I thought about the quote. I was in the process of migrating codes so no need to get upset because I'm done now. At least their headers are neat, informative, and highly search-able . But seriously next time if I am going to unleash a bomb on you guys I'll try to contain myself to one thread (terrible for searching btw...). Also if you feel that it's too much of a "mess" and need to clean it up or add it to one post go ahead. Just give me a heads up if I'll need to create a separate thread with all of them.

Not taking any requests at this time.

Bored? Watch some of my hacks here.

Cool, I was about to ask you the same. Please, next time just use one post to submit your codes.

Maybe check the post that contains that code to make sure they've not already been made.

But, I've got all of your codes up to that post.
