Can anyone hack a Game Genie Code for the 2600 Pitfall..If it can be done

  • #2
Do you mean to get into the 2600 game, or a code that works in that version?

Yes, to get in to the 2600 version without code

I don't have any more time to tinker with it right now, but if someone else wants to make the code, here's some info that might help...

It looks like the 2600 version programming code begins at $135256, and you get there from this: 13:A1C6 61 00 BSR #$FFFFB08E [13:5256]

I think the controller cheat coding (down, A 26 times, down, at the title screen) begins at $133BEE. Didn't have any time to do testing, so no guarantees on this info.

For the genesis version all you pretty much have to do is to jump to 1340a6 - this can be done in lots of places. To keep things simple I've just bra'd straight to 1340a6 on the title screen when you hit a key.

I worked out a lot of info on the specialized systems used by this game, but here's the important parts:

Replace 'Info' Menu with Original Pitfall game(Changing the value used for this leads to all sorts of different stuff, like the ending sequence, the credits, and levels, but I'm only interested in the 2600 Pitfall game)
                        D382-17AA

                        Original Pitfall:
                        Infinite Time:
                        6D29-C4D4

                        Infinite Lives:
                        DD25-1702

Alligators Always Closed-Mouthed(Their mouths will look open, but you can stand on them anyways)
                        DF38-CDAA

Start at Right Edge of Screen when Changing Screens >
                        EA24-340A

I also submitted this stuff to gamefaqs:
                        2600 Pitfall
                        Select, A, A, A, A, A, A, Select

                        Start on Level 6
                        X, A, Y, A, X, Select, Select

                        See Ending Credits
                        Y, Select, Y, Y, Y, Select, Select, Y

Level Select(L and R change level)
                        X, Select, A, Select, Y, A, X, Select
