Never tried it with bosses. Any chance you have a save state when battling a boss?

Here's a save state with the Neifirst boss encounter. I didn't test it. Supposedly works on both Fusion and Gens. Description says: "In Climatrol. Talk to Neifirst to begin the drama! And the battle."

      • i don't want Nei (a party member) to die.. i wish there is a trick to keep her alive for for the rest of a game

like Phantasy Star IV has a Alys Trick so Alys will not die by using walk through walls and no random battles

        • Thanks for the save state terpsfan101. Worked fine.

Combusto, the "Can always run from battle" code works even when fighting Neifirst. If you run from battle, you will automatically win the battle and defeat Neifirst.

I will work on a code to let you keep Nei after defeating Neifirst.

          • Combusto, someone already made a code to let you resurrect Nei... http://www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php?topic=17494.0

Make sure you read the whole thing because there are a few different codes.

              • Combusto, I'm working on a better code that lets you bring back Nei in the resurrection shop. I already made a code that shows text that says Nei has been bought back to life (but the code doesn't resurrect him) so it looks like the programming is in the game. Will post what I have so far when I get home from work.

                  • The author who did the Phantasy Star II Improvement hack said he added additional equipment for Nei once you bring her back:

"Phantasy Star II Improvement was started back in 2012 as a ROM hack for the Genesis original, and I actually added all that extra equipment for Nei in case anyone wanted to use that GameGenie code to get her back on the team."

"If you want to "resurrect" Nei, you can either find a way to use this GameGenie code: AHDS-8AAL with Steam, or find a way to play Phantasy Star Generation:2 and actually revive her, which has an English fan translation out and ready for play. "

                    • That Game Genie code to resurrect Nei (AHDS-8AAL) is not a "real" Game Genie code. It's actually a RAM/PAR code. It just replaces one of your existing characters with Nei. Haven't checked, but I'm guessing the stats and abilities would be for whoever was in that slot before using the RAM/PAR code.

Here is a picture of text that's in the Genesis Phantasy Star 2 game that I enabled using a Game Genie code. Seems to suggest that there is a way to resurrect her. Still working on it.

Seriously, why do people do that.

BTW, the code Tony H. was referring to in the romhacking thread was:

                        00B1C6:4E71
                        00B1C8:4E71
                        00B1CA:4E71

You have to enable the code before the battle vs Neifirst. Not sure if the above codes can be shortened.

                        00B1C6:6004

                        looks like it would work.

                        • terpsfan101, the 6004 instruction is correct for that code.

Combusto, the code terpsfan101 mentioned above from the RomHacking thread works fine. The code just needs to be turned on before you enter the house where you can rearrange your characters. No need for a Genome item.

                          • Tony, how did you get that code to work? I tried enabling before the Neifirst battle and then tried enabling during the cutscene after the Neifirst battle. Both times, after I exited the resurrection shop, Nei wasn't there (onscreen or in the menus). I tried the code in both Fusion and Gens.

                            • terpsfan101, I thought it didn't work at first too. I'm not at all familiar with the game and just today figured out that there is a "Home" that you have to go to in order to reorganize and add/remove characters in your lineup. You have to go to this home for the code to work. The Home is located just to the right of that funny looking tower in the middle of the town. When you first enter the Home, you'll have to talk to someone named Kain. After that, you'll be able to "reorganize" your characters, and then you'll see Nei.

                              • Thanks, Tony. It looks like she's a permanent (mandatory) member of the group when you keep her after she's supposed to be gone.

I'm tempted to play this game now. I loved Phantasy Star IV even though I found it bit too short and a bit too easy.
