  • All Half-Life games now free until Alyx launch

Valve has recently announced that they will be making all previous Half-Life games (specifically Half-Life 1, Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode 1 and Half-Life 2: Episode 2) free to play until the launch of their new VR game, Half-Life: Alyx.

They say “The Half-Life: Alyx team believes that the best way to enjoy the new game is to play through the old ones.”

The games will not stay in your Steam Library forever, however.

As mentioned, they will only be playable until the launch of Half-Life: Alyx (March 2020) unless purchased.

This is still a very good amount of time to play through all the games in preparation for Alyx.

Half-Life: Alyx is a new Half-Life game by Valve that will be set before the events of Half-Life 2.

It will be a Virtual Reality only game.

However, if you buy Valves new VR Headset (the Valve Index), you will receive Half-Life: Alyx for free.

I'm now over half way through Half Life 2: Episode 2. What a great game. The fact that it's free is icing on the cake.

I'm on the training missions in the original Half-Life, and I'm having trouble with the run and jump at the same time move. I was going to hack a jump modifier, but don't want to be banned from Steam.
