I don't know who that guy is, but for some reason I find him very annoying. I don't know if it's just the repeated "this is how big of fucking shit they are in" thing being repeated over and over or what it is. I feel like everything he says could be shrunk down to less than 2 minutes, but it just keeps going and going and going and going and maybe if I could shrink this font size down to near pixel size and fill up entire pages worth like that it would be about the same. I should have just stopped it a few minutes in rather than listening to the whole thing.

I don't even remember who Hyperkin is. For a moment I was mistaking him with Hyper2k. Did Hyperkin have some site for European PS2 game codes and was he involved with CMX's PS3 game genie or something? The name is very familiar but I really don't remember for sure.

CMX just using Hyperkin as distributor for his Game Genie PS3 Save Editor and Game Genie DS (former Codebreaker DS)
CMX has nothing do have RetroN5
the person responsible for Retron5 is this guy

Yeah, they used those emulators they weren't supposed to. I think it was for a greater good tho. It's kinda like charging money for repros. The guys that made the hacks don't get money for it, but people get a new game to add to their collection. In this case a all in one system instead of a cart. The guys did SOME work on it obviously, they fixed it so Master system adaptor would work on it.

Well, they obviously did some work, stitching together the media readers from various consoles, feeding it all through and with common peripheral interfaces and so on. The emulators they appropriated all work on ROM images as far as I know, so they had to provide a bridge between the emulators and the cartridges. How impressive that is depends on how they implemented it. If the cartridge slots are actually rippers, and they copy the contents to some internal storage so the emulator can run using its typical image, then they deserve some sort of eponymous award from Lazy Bastard. All they've done at that rate is lazily use existing technology to build something Helder could probably construct in his garage.
Had they licensed the emulators appropriately, it would still be a laudable and worthwhile endeavor, regardless of how hacky the implementation might be. What with economies of scale and the fact that very few gamers could actually stitch together that assortment of components, there's definitely a market for the product.
