An update
Well, I have recently bought a Sharkport for $15 and am looking into Interfacing with the ps2 along with qkat. The Sharkport DOES interface in some form with the ps2 and we are looking into a way to run a code creating program through this.
I believe this could be possible. First off, there are already several programs that let you alter ps2 memory card data. This data is kept in RAM until it is copied onto the mem card. From there it CAN be transfered to the PC and then VIEWED AND EDITED much like the old mem editor of the old Gamesharkpro and GSCC2000 programs. So why can't it be done during the playing of the game with a little tweaking? The code searching programs seem little more than the "find on this page" function on a computer. When you think about it, it does not seem so improbable does it? The code writing is not so hard either. Although you have these "Master codes" (which I beleive are nothing more than data transfer codes) code writing is not very complicated at all. There are quite a few people who have made some codes (albeit not very signifigant ones but they have learned to modify existing codes beyond just changing a value).
The few people who have the programs tell you "Oh, it is TOO complicated so leave it to the experts" To which I say "I DON'T BELEIVE THAT AT ALL". They are among the few and they want to stay that way for as long as they can. Can't say that I blame them. I am sure ps2 will be hacked by the general public one day. It may not be as simple as slapping a gameshark on the back of your unit like in the old days But, I am sure they will come out with an emulator which will permit it just like every other system ever invented. I remember when a certain site kept alot of psx hacking stuff "secret" (won't go into that). I may or may not be the one to come up with some type of program but, it will happen no matter who says what.
P.S. Madcatz is announcing that their NEW Gameshark will have a new easy user interface and LOTS of other new faetures. They will not say if there will be any basic code creating utillities. Let us hope. It is schedualed at this time for a March release.
