Default watch out for wmf files..

I been hearing about some security bug for windows users, abuot looking atthse pictures. I'm not sure what it's about, but there is a 3rd party patch made for this. Microsoft aint making a patch till later. Can anyone explain this thing in layman terms? I'm not sure what this all is about.

WMF files are pretty damn rare. I've only seen a few ever. They're called "windows meta files", usually being something like an INI file with a different extension. Though, I think in this case they're referring to WMF type info embedded into various common image formats. Which means, if you get an attatchment, even if it's an image, don't let it get onto a windows system. IE might also have some problems, depending on if it processes WMF images at all...

Well, in short, it looks like there's a perfectly good 3rd party patch to solve the problem, and micro$oft is proving they're a bunch of lazy bastards by not releasing one themselves.

Heh, interesting to see that article mention those damned Sober worms. thegshi.org was getting hammered with those pretty good for awhile. Hell, it might still be, though there's virus scanning now.
