    Default Sega CD ISO Hacks

Figured I'd start a new thread for these. Will make them easier to find in the future.

Many thanks to Mezmorize for helping me out with this. Mez, you'll be glad to know that I finally put my purse down and ran CE. No problems with my Anti Virus at all.

Since there's no emulator that I know of that can use Sega CD cheat codes,
you'll have to hack the codes into your ISO file with a hex editor. I'm using
Hex Workshop, but I'm sure any hex editor will work. Just open up your ISO
file with a hex editor, click on "Find" and type in the numbers I have listed
below. Make the changes listed, save, and you're ready to go.

RDF: Global Conflict (U) Sega CD

    Infinite 1.20 ammo...
With your hex editor, search for 8E4E4504790001. Change the last 01 to 00.

    Infinite 7.62 ammo...
With your hex editor, search for 003A04790001. Change the last 01 to 00.

    Infinite LSR ammo...
With your hex editor, search for 002E04790001. Change the last 01 to 00.

    Infinite Smoke ammo...
With your hex editor, search for 006004790001. Change the last 01 to 00.

    Take no damage...
With your hex editor, search for 0084DF79. Change the DF79 to 6004.

RDF: Global Conflict (U) Sega CD

Start a new game with twice as much fuel. Note that picking up an extra fuel
can will cause your fuel level to drop back down to the "normal" full level,
so it's best not to pick up a fuel can until your fuel level gets below the
    half way mark...
With your hex editor, search for 50B233FC2700. Change the 2700 to 4E00.

Fuel can pick-ups give you twice as much fuel...
With your hex editor, search for 4E7533FC2700. Change the 2700 to 4E00.

    Infinite fuel...
With your hex editor, search for 4100029041. Change the 9041 to 4E71.

Awesome, always hated how the Sega CD was neglected code-wise just because it didn't have a cheat device.
Would you mind if I also posted hacks in this thread.
I would rather the old thread I had made to die out since I put out a lot of bad hacks back then.

The one time I attempted hacking segacd I kept getting frustrated with the frequent paging and switching between the processors. It's not the easiest system to hack, what debugger are you using?

BTW- I believe you can use MESS to cheat with segacd. If I get a minute I'll see if I can add your cheats in it and get it to work. I still have to add SegaCD to the new site, as well as PCECD, CDi, others...

You can make ROM codes with any system that Fusion emulates when used with Cheat Engine.
I have 10 games I've hacked in the last few months I could post.

    Sol-Feace
    Sonic CD
    Star Blade
    Star Wars: Rebel Assault
    Thunderhawk
    Ultraverse Prime
    Vay
    Wild Woody
    Wolfchild
    Wonder Dog

Putting all Sega CD hacks here would be a good idea.

And I suppose I should take your cue and start listing the specific game/region the hacks are for.

EDIT: Although now that I think about it, I'll bet that the hacks would work on any version/region of the game. Since you're searching for a hex string instead of using a specific ROM address, the hacks should work on all versions of the game in most cases.

OK, but in using cheat engine, are you sure the addresses you provide will translate for other emulators? That's a big deal considering MESS would use them as well as any future emulators (Not that I'm holding my breath for that).

Once I find the emulated ROM in Cheat Engine's Memory Viewer, I copy a bunch of bytes and paste them into Hex Workshop's find box.
Far as I know the hacked games should work in other emulators also.

Yes, the ISO hacks should work on any emulator that can play Sega CD games. If fact, I'll bet that if you could burn a hacked ISO file onto a CD-ROM, along with the related MP3 files, it would work on real hardware (assuming a real Sega CD console can read CD-ROM discs). Does anyone have a real Sega CD?

Mez, one thing I've done sometimes in addition to using CE, is to make an assembly trace log with Gens 9.5b. I'm so used to reading asm files now, that it's easier that way for me. One problem I noticed is that when there is a reference in one of the A registers, the address there is not the actual address. I'm sure it has to do with what Rimsky mentioned about paging and switching. Will have to try and figure that part out. Could find more codes with that info.
