After using BGB to hack codes with, NO$GMB is like a pear versus king crab leg. BGB is my preference.

I put my general preferences for the programs I use for Code Hacking into the Save State Hacking FAQ on another page:

    From the debug window:
    Choose Debug>'access breakpoints'

    'Access' probably meaning 'Memory Access'

ok next question: how do you set breakpoints on high memory area's? like 03:d389(WRA3:d389) its the health andress for the hero in battle for dragon warrior 3, I tried it different ways but bgb wouldn't let me enter it...

C000-DFFF is where you need to use an 'Access Breakpoint'

Unfortunately, you just have to watch all of the loads to D389. You can use ROM regions on the regular breakpoints, but not RAM regions in the Access Breakpoints. It's not to hard to watch for the data that should be loaded in memory when the debugger snaps, updating all the info in the window.

This isn't exactly the easiest game to hack codes for. The damage routine works for both characters and monsters equally. The checksum routines don't like being rigged to repair the checksum instead of check it. The SRAM Reset routine is a part of the SRAM Loading routine, just a matter of where you jump to within the routine. Not my first suggested game to learn Gameboy assembly on, unless I don't like the person.

Start Battles With Around 255 Health(This isn't a sure-fire code, but I think someone else will tell me if the code loads them with 0 health at some point):
    222-0EB-4C2

Start Battles With Around 65278 Health(These aren't sure-fire codes, but I think someone else will tell me if the codes load them with 0 health at some point):
    222-0EB-4C2
    222-11B-4C2

(I had to watch for reads from the character data to track down the write to D389, which is just part of a manual mirror of some of the character data. I got lucky with 'a' being loaded with values around FF)

    bo yaa ugetab...

    Dragon Warrior 4
    walk thru wallks everywhere
    AVKIGEAT

note for the code above: will let you wal;k thru walls on the world map and in town..well let you call to npc's and pick up teasure chests and walk into/out of feilds...note that some times in towns in graphics might distort a little..in that case just bring up the command window to fix it...

BGB, I love that emulator. That's what I use for hacking too. Heck, last I heard Visualboy advance can't use all gameshark codes yet, nor hack them. Although I heard VBA's authors were planning to incorperate better gameshark code support. BGB seems to be the better emulator for GB anyway.
