That error means that artemis/ps2rd isn't connected to the game, so it can't dump data. If you are even asking, I'm assuming you've encountered one of the games that say connected but never actually dump.
You can try changing the line in artemis/ps2rd to true for "patch_modules" or whatever it was called. If that doesn't fix it, you might have one of the few that aren't compatible yet (and that number really is a small percent at this point for me).
What game is it, just in case it's listed in the game compatibility wiki or thread?
Its Ratchet: Deadlocked. I saw that you had posted on how to get it to work in there, so I tried, and failed. :P
If it didn't work, you did something wrong.
You are doing all of these things for the NTSC version, right?
1. Set "patch_loadmodule = true"
2. Set "auto_hook = false"
3. Put it in the "cheats.txt" file with:
Master Code 9013BA48 00832021
and activating that code before you start the game.
That's what I did to make it work from what I remember.
I was also using artemis version 0.4 with revision 28 of ps2cc.
What exactly is happening since it isn't working. Game works but no data is being dumped? Game not starting? I need more info.

I just made sure I have artemis 0.4, and downloaded ps2cc rev28. I checked the configuration file for artemis and I had everything set correctly.
I have the Master Code in the cheats file, and when the artemis cheat system comes up, I select the game, and it loads the cheats file, then it loads the game.
When I try to get a dump (I have PS2 Wait box Checked, and then I do an Initial dump, and press the Dump only button) I get the Error: recv failed.
It's a mystery to me.
Could it be the operating system? I am currently using Windows 7. I have tried running the program as an Administrator, and i still get the error.
I am having the same problem. I am using windows vista. PS2CC says "client connected" when I load my game, then it was giving me that recv failed message whenever i tried to dump memory after a few seconds. I changed my patch_loadmodule = true (it was set at false), and now when I try to dump memory from within ps2cc, it doesn't give me that message anymore but it just is stuck "dumping memory". how long should it take to dump memory through a crossover cable? probably only a minute or so, right? Well yea i let it go for like 5 minutes and it is still stuck dumping memory. So yeah I don't know what i'm doing wrong.
I am trying to dump memory from the game NCAA Football 2005. Interestingly, I tried using IGmassdumper.elf and i was successful dumping in-game to the USB (after pressing up+R1+cross a few times, weird that it didn't work the first time but it finally dumped after pressing up+R1+cross like 5 or so times, froze my game for a few minutes while dumping but it seemingly worked through IGmassdumper) . I have a 31 MB raw file from that USB dump and it was read to some extent by ps2cc's file mode.
As I said, I am using a crossover cable. Perhaps I have the wrong IP address set. I tried using 192.168.1.2 in TCP/IP v4 in network connections (as Lazy Bastard said to set it between 192.168.1.0-192.168.1.254). That didn't seem to work as with that it wasn't even client connecting in ps2cc with that IP address. So tried 192.168.0.2, the same one I use for OpenPS2Loader (which works great). So with that IP address i started to get "Client Connected" in ps2cc so I thought I was on my way. Could the IP address be the problem with my ps2cc is not dumping memory correctly? I tried other games too, and the same problem.
Also some versions of artemis come with ntpbclient instead of ps2cc. How exactly does ntpbclient work? It's obviously not a windows executable file, but I have just been using ps2cc to try to dump memory. So anyway, a bit confused here with how to get artemis to work through the crossover cable. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks.
