Help with AR3 Stop

I recently found through this site I could flash my gameshark pro to play my backups and imports with AR3 Stop, but im having problems getting it to actually boot the backups & imports.

I tried FFIX NTSC/UC (disc 4) as a test and i got it to boot up, but once I loaded from memory card it hung at a black screen. (im not sure if this game has backup protection kinda like afew versions of FF8?). I also burnt a japanese import and i can't get it to boot at all. Anyone here ever used this?
