Default How do I activate Artemis?

I got back from my tiny vacation and don't have access to a computer that can download things, blocks most websites that exist, and has no zip file functionality.

I was happy to try version 0.2 with the right stuff. I put in Fatal Frame 3 and pressed X. The game started, but then it never occured to me to check the readme file. I have no idea of how to use Artemis. I just pressed a bunch of random button combinations and pressed a bunch of different buttons at the same time. I have no idea of how to use it, and nothing obvious appeared. While I have a game running, how do I use Artemis?

Once the game is loaded after Artemis it should turn your PS2 into a server you can then connect to it and hack codes with the ps2cc client ran on your pc across a LAN connection.
As for the running the actual cheat engine with activated codes from a codelist, I dunno I haven't tested it yet my ps2 is broken at the moment until I get a new FFC cable for it :-(

Next Artemis release should have a MC/USB boot support, so you can hack codes and you don't need ethernet adaptor, even thought usb it is slower than ethernet.

Actually, we (core developers) don't care about USB, and are quite busy getting Ethernet to work properly.

Dumping to USB is lame, and we don't like lame solutions.

As is quite clear, misfire does not like the USB solution (heh). However, there are others who are working on in-game screen printing, and an in-game USB dumping solution has already been submitted (dumping to a flash drive; see the Artemis BountySource page).

This is not to say that USB dumps will be implemented in the next release. The primary component of this project is the remote debugger, which is, as misfire has mentioned, a much more powerful solution. That said, for those without an ethernet adapter, or without a computer that can be used for Artemis, the PS2-side hacking solution will be quite useful, and so it will be a 'side quest' of this project, to open up hacking for the masses.

    Also,

Next Artemis release should have a MC/USB boot support, so you can hack codes and you don't need ethernet adaptor, even thought usb it is slower than ethernet.
Artemis already has MC/USB boot support. You can boot it from pretty much anything. Dumps, however, are network only (and, as mentioned earlier, you can dump to USB flash with USBD, but you won't be able to perform searches unless you bring your flash drive back to a PC and perform comparisons using a 3rd party compare app of some sort).

What is this Ethernet adaptor thing? I'd assume I could by it at gamestop or somewhere. Do I just plug it into the back of my PS2, and connect it to my computer with a thick ethernet cord or something? I truly don't know a thing about it. Any pictures somebody could easily find?

Yes, only FAT ps2's need the NA it slots into the expansion bay at the back the slim's already have it inbuilt into the circuit board you can only use a HDD on the V12 / 13 slims though they removed that ability because of HDLoader on the newer slims.

There's two types the Dial Up / Ethernet type released in America and Japan the other version just has the Ethernet connection which was released in Europe.
