?Mental fitness is just as important as physical fitness, but it is not typically given the same recognition and support that we give our physical health,? says Penny Marret, CEO, CMHA National office.

    Any thoughts?

Micheal Moore made 119 Million with his 9/11 documentary. So Not being Mentally healthy can actually be a good thing for some.

I was in a psych ward 2 1/2 years ago =D So I have a bit of experience with mental heath, or the lack of it. I definatly think that there needs to be more awareness about mental health, It is getting better though, There is less of a mental health stigma than there was a couple decades ago.

I too was in the crazy hosue for awhile myself (serious but ehh is life heh) And I think and firmly believe the TRUE nuts in the world are those who 'claim' they are 'perfectly healthy' mentle wise anyway. Meaning we all are crazy, I truely believe that, the thing the world is obsessed with always is well, trying to find out ammong us always who is always 'more crazy'.

Is like a barrel of aples all of them have a small brown spot on them, yet it is like all the people of the world and society even looks at each apple and finds ONLY the ones with the 'biggest' brown spots and say hey let's get rid of that one, so they do. and the people getting rid of all the apples with brown spots, we look at them and see they have even bigger brown spots then the apples they were saying 'hey get rid of' err hehe I sorta messed up, may have lost you all but yeah that all. 'everyoen is nuts' The ones that claim they are not nuts are the ones you have to look out for.

My paranoia has always kept me one step ahead of the public's having enough knowledge to throw me into an asylum

The trick is to pretend you're not dangerous...as an extremely depressed, mildly schizophrenic, half-sociopathic ex-Special Forces operative, that's been quite difficult, heh.

I guess I got my problems too. My parents got a little obsession with overdramatising and exaggerating things to get the upper hand in battles. But I'll shed that problem when I get my own place and married (which will hopefully be by this years end).

My mother spent some time in a ward before she met my father. Must've been a decent program as she hasn't been back in my lifetime. As for my own health, I'll be seeing a psychiatrist in a couple months to test for Asperger's Syndrome. Wether I fit the criteria or not I fit the criteria I'm assuming the process will highlight areas I need to focus on.

Asperger's Syndrome isn't treated through medication so there's no point in me waiting for a label to try and improve myself. I've been going to some "Recovery Centre Activities" at the downtown CMHA. They involve discussion on things like communcation skills, personal development and socializing which are really weak areas for me.

Ah, the 9 year old kid across the street that I have been RPG training has Asperger's Syndrome. Real cool kid, he idolizes me, so he obviously has good taste :P
He has had some trouble in school, mostly because of ignorant teachers. He is reading books that are 2-3 grades above him, and getting 100% on the whatever kind of report thing they do.... and his teacher wrote down "Does not read for enjoyment" on his report card. :x

The ward I was in was excellent. We called it "The Country Club", it was such a nice place. A little off topic... but the food was good as hell, and you could either pick from their choices, or write down something like "1x cheeseburger" or "1x ham and cheese sandwich" on the menu card, and you would get it. Anyway, a good psych ward is a great thing, and a bad psych ward is a horrible thing.

That's about how I thought it would be...

And holy shit...I could easily pass for having Asperger's...about three fourths of the things that help diagnose the syndrome are ones that bother me. Fucking tech genes...heh.

Motor function never seems to be a problem for me, though...probably because every little thing I do is commanded by precise repetition. Every single time, without exception, I, for example, step out of the shower, dry off, and get dressed, I use exactly the same motions, so that it pretty much looks like a flawless form of dance to anyone that's seen it, heh.
