Best method of emulated N64 hacking?

What programs/emulators are the best to hack for N64, without actually having one? Heh...I suppose the simple - PC RAM editor in conjunction with Project 64, then conversion via comparison with real N64 code samples - method would work, but anyone have any specifics to share? It'd really help get this forum rolling off to a start...

I haven't yet tried making N64 codes yet, the only thing I've heard is that you need a external Ram editor. There isn't any emulators with a cheat search yet. Altho Project 64 just had a new version released which means it's not dead. If we are lucky they may incorperate a cheat search in it one day.

parasyte has a GS code searcher he made but isnt releasing it to the public,but a ram editor will do the trick and PJ64 has GS support so anycodes you make you can test out.

Yeah, good point. I suppose I'll just use an ArtMoney style prog, and do a little when I get back to TX.

I'd like to get started making a code or two. So what Ram editor would you suggest Helder. I found this program made by Viper (ugh).

It's called Cheater64. I haven't had any luck finding any codes with it tho.

I'm suprised you haven't thought of this allready lazy..use CEP with pj64..all you have to do is find the area in pc ram that project 64 runs the n64 ram and set it up in cep to seach that area...the bytes might be a little off from a real code and the cep code you find..but its all good..

Yeah, that would work fine, too...either way it's just a matter of conversion.

I have a VB6 program that I think could convert to and from a PJ64 Save-State address and a Gameshark code. I haven't tested it on enough different games to really say it works, but on the off chance that: 1. it would work, and 2. someone would be interested, I decided to say something.

I use TSearch 1.6b for everything.

For Project64, set memory map area to MEM_PRIVATE only, and defined range to 30000000-40000000 to make searches go by instantly. I'll have to check if that setting is correct for the newest version of project64, I haven't updated my docs for that one.

I had a to-gs conversion method figured out at one point, but then out of nowhere the method changed so I deleted it.
