Default PS2dis Question Of The Week

    Hello,
I've read through your website many times and it has been a lot of help.

Using PS2 Dis, I have located the Prefix name label for a weapon in a game
and can change the name of it to whatever I enter on Gameshark but the name
will not save so - when I play the game again, the prefix name is back to
    it’s original name.

Do I need to adjust the Mips language, after the code string? What else
    could I be doing here?

There are a few other code items that I am looking to accomplish such as
changing the size of a character ( which is a temporary ability in game),
making a character invisible ( which is a temporary side effect of a spell),
making the appearance of a spell take on that of another and having these
things all savable so they can be brought to online play.

I have uncovered numerous codes for the game I have been hacking but am
reaching a wall here on what I can accomplish with my basic knowledge, even
after checking website after website on hacking.

I can provide much more information on the known codes and known values I
have found upon a reply if you are interested in such a project.

Thank you again for your time !
    Mike

Ethically, I would say he shouldn't be hacking for gain in a netplay environment.

That aside, he could edit the ELF directly with Driver's ELF Modder, reference here: http://gshi.org/vb/showthread.php?t=...ghlight=modder

...or Jaytee's Elf Maker, referenced here: http://gshi.org/vb/showthread.php?t=1608&page=2

...and burn a copy of the game with his new, resultant ELF. However, this would require patching DNAS if he desired to use this "backup" online (and, of course, either a modded PS2, or a swap method of some kind). DNAS patching tools can be found on ps2nfo.com, and a decent collection of DNAS IDs can be found here: http://www.grafhical.com/dnas/

...not that he wouldn't already be able to find the ID of his game, assuming he has an original of it.

He could also make an attempt at hacking his game save, but it would be far easier to use the above method, with the correct hardware.

If he has any questions concerning editing an ELF, feel free to post them, or have him register here and post them.

No problem. There are other ways of accomplishing what he desires, which we can go into if he doesn't have a way to boot burned discs.
