Another ZSNES problem... :(

I am playing a ROM of Super Metroid on my computer and I can't get about half the Game Genie codes to work. They are ones from this site. Among the ones not working are:

Have all Boots and Bombs
all the codes to make the maps show

As far as I can tell there are no codes saying "you must enter this for codes (number) through (number) to work" so I am not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'm entering all the codes correctly, including the dash mark...

At the bottom, you should see a action replay code guide and a game genie code guide, they should work for you.
