A few things...
Hmm...good to be back, again.
About a week ago, in the middle of a ruck march, my lungs began to seize...I'm told, around six miles down the road, I collapsed into a ditch. According to the docs at the ER, I had some kind of acute reactionary lung disorder - possibly a severe form of exercise-induced asthma, or an allergic reaction of some kind - that decided to hit harder than usual that morning (I've been having lung problems for quite some time now). But that was just the beginning. Apparently, because I didn't stop going, my body was working harder than it could sustain, causing a severe heat stroke. My kidneys shut down for about a day; I had extensive damage there and in my circulatory system, due to myoglobin, Ck, lactic acid - poisons usually filtered by the kidneys. Another guy that came in for heat stroke that day had a blood toxin level of 1000%; mine was 1200%. He died.
They may medically discharge me, or reclassify me in another MOS (Military Occupational Specialty). If they decide on the latter, I'll request what I was originally going to do anyway - cryptologic linguist. That should give me more time to work on the GSHI, not to mention a better job, and one that I'd actually enjoy. If the former is in order, they'll be paying me $2000 a month for the rest of my life, which should allow me to get the GSHI rolling within a shorter timespan than I'd planned, especially with a few government, 0% interest loans. We'll see.
Just wanted to update you all on the situation. I know I've been gone for a few weeks; it seems to be the trend with me lately. The service isn't exacly convenient for the individual, heh. Things could be worse, though. I could be the other guy, or his dad, when he got the phone call...
