    Default MS Windows Q.

If someone had Windows 98, or 2000, would they be able to copy it onto a disc so someone else could intall it to their comp? And how would you do this if you could?

I'm asking cause neither my mom or my dad's friend can find their Windows Installation disc. So I was wondering if you can just copy it off the HD.

I know I need 98 to run Ulead.

It might be possible, but it'd be a complete pain in the ass to do. Probably more so than trying to find/download a copy of windows. Considering what hardware you said you have, trying to use something newer than 98 se might be a bad idea...

Hmm... Is it possible that the thing in 98 that Ulead would want is usb support? If I remember correctly, there's something around m$'s site to add that to 95...

Probally, I'll look around, I was thinking, couldn't I just open up a cd-r in the disc drive, and drag-n-drop the windows folder into it, then up it to my comp?

I need an ISP as well lol

Thinking about it, that might work. You'd have to get a cdrom reading enabled dos boot floppy, something like any random win98 'rescue disk' or whatever the 3.25" floppy that can be easily made with it is called. It may be impossible to copy all of the needed files from a running copy of windows... Specifically, the kernel probably won't want to be copied, though I might be wrong.

As I said, it might work, meaning it also might not work, so don't do it if you don't have access to a full installation of an OS around.

    As far as
an isp, beware of local ones, unless you've heard good things about them, other than about their support. Stay away from msn and aol, at least as an isp... That's about the limit of what I'm sure is general enough to be correct...

Well I may not 'need' w98 after all. I just installed Ulead an its working great, it's a few seconds slower than when it was on my mom's pc, but that doesnt bother me. I mainly use Ulead PE3.0 for its Selection tools and Text effects, so I should be able to make the text on my graphics look much better now. Now.. I just gotta move UFX to it and I'll be set.
