  • GameHacking.org Weekly Hacking Target (06-05-11) - Zelda 2 [NES]

This week's hacking target will be Zelda 2: The Adventures of Link, for NES.

The rules are simple: hack whatever you like, as long as it hasn't been hacked, and post in this thread with any codes/progress/questions/requests (yes, requests are welcome). To verify what's already been hacked, take a look at these pages:

    http://GameHacking.org/?s=v2&sys=5&gid=792
    http://GameHacking.org/?s=v2&sys=5&gid=834
    http://GameHacking.org/?s=v2&sys=21&gid=2370
    http://GameHacking.org/?s=bsfree2&sys=2&gid=1598

If you don't have the game, or don't want to hack it, wait until next week, and if you like, suggest the next game in the main "GameHacking.org Weekly Hacking Target" thread.

    Happy hacking!

No random battles on the overworld map.

    AASOSEZP
Your sword can always shoot (sword beams), even if you don't have a full health meter.

    GPVVITZA
Level 1 sword is 10x stronger (20 damage instead of 2).

    TPVVTTLE
Level 2 sword is 10x stronger (30 damage instead of 3).

    STUTZNON
All levels of swords do massive damage. Swords normally do from 2 to 24 damage, but with this code they will do 227 damage.

    APUTYYEY
One hit kills some (most?) enemies. Have only tested on a couple enemies so far. Will do more testing and update.

    EDIT: These 6 codes added.

New PAR Code for Zelda 2

Skating Link (side to side view) i.e., in a room, castle, cave, etc... Using either 00, 01, 02 or 03 changes the position of link when he walks normally.
          0080:??

Frozen Fairy (When you are a fairy, you are not animated) Thanks to abystus for finding the Fairy Spell always enabled code.

These work for the little sword beams too?

Good question. I think I tested the codes with both the sword only, and the sword beam, but can't remember for sure. My computer is having problems, so as soon as I get it fixed (or buy and new one), I'll test them again.

OK, fixed my PC. scylla, tested the codes again, and all the "stronger weapon" codes work with the sword, or the sword beam.

Also, I changed the code description (from above) to include the words "sword beam". I didn't know that's what it was called...

P.S. I was kinda hoping my PC had terminal problems, then I would have had a good excuse to go buy a new one. Oh well. :-)
