  • XBox One save game modding tool released

Today, a tool named Vantage was released. The utility allegedly lets players modify their Xbox One save games to cheat in single player games. It claims to be the first game modding tool for Xbox One, although people have been fast to mention that such utilities have most likely existed for a while (but none of these were publicly released)

The information (and download links) came from popular tech and gaming site TheTechGame, along with a video showcasing the tool working in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered. In the Video below, the player is seen jumping at insane heights across all the map in CoD. Screenshots from the tool show that the Xbox One Call of Duty mod allows to enable god mode, run faster, Jump higher than buildings, and have unlimited sprints.

I don't have an Xbox One, but at the very minimum I've always wondered why these sort of tools are still frowned upon. These days if people are concerned about online ranking and modding, you'd think they'd separate online stuff to save in the cloud and your modifications would strictly be on your console only to keep data separate. People would only be cheating themselves if they used the tools to unlock everything in a game without playing it, and game developers would need to be more strict on what data gets saved and loaded or we'd end up with that Hardcore mode thing that happened in the Borderlands games. Otherwise there are sometimes very interesting things game developers leave behind in the data. Sometimes they leave behind simple flags to enable codes they didn't entirely take out of the game but they thought nobody would ever find.

I cheat my ass off every day, in every game that I can play. If I can't cheat on a console I don't buy it.

I made that mistake with the GameCube, and had to wait until I dissolved into a skeleton until Parasyte made it possible.

I can't even play games anymore, all I did was hack PS3 games. Even if it looked like an awesome game, if I saw somebody had already hacked all there was that would ever need hacking, I could never bring myself to play it because I have nothing to hunt for. I only played a tiny bit of Red Dead Redemption, Tomb Raider, and other games because there's nothing left for me to find. Nothing to find means I'm bored. The last time I played a game without codes and enjoyed it was Okami on the PS2, it was like Zelda for the Playstation. Game makers or console makers really need to compromise better with cheating. It's always been here so far. Single-player cheaters aren't cheating against others, but they'd break online score rankings. Online cheaters are usually only pricks if it's not consensual cheating.

        Solutions:
        1. For singleplayer games with online rankings, allow cheating but put them in a separate ranking or disable online ranking.
        2. For online players, put them on separate servers.
        3. Make a separate cheater mode on consoles that uses different servers for things or something.

They really need to figure something out. Not every game is a hunk of gold, some are shit and things need modding.

There are still codes waiting to be hacked in games. I've found a lot of good codes by accident, when I was looking for something else.

After about a solid 2 weeks of messing with a game I usually get bored to death of it and need to quit no matter what. Messing with memory on PS3 games isn't very safe, that console is absurdly easy to cause games to crash on. It felt near impossible to freeze or crash games on any console and then the PS3 came and now it's the opposite where you better know what you're doing or you're going to be restarting that console nonstop from unrecoverable crashes. I can't have the same fun I was having back on the PS2 and PS1 and other things where I'd just use a code type that overwrote thousands of lines at a time with a random value and get something interesting by accident like Resident Evil Outbreak 1 and 2 having that weird stealth camouflage code that looks like Snake's cloaking device from Metal Gear Solid, now it's safe to assume that overwriting 64 bytes of code is very likely to crash every game.
