ZSNES v1.42 Instructions

When you are in-game, set these options to the following:

Select Size and Format: 1 byte [0..255]; Dec (Base 10)
Select Search Type: Comparitive Search
Click Start then Esc.

1) While the character is standing or moving, perform an attack, or pause the game. Immediately, press Esc, click Cheat --> Search.

2) Set the 'Select Comparison' to 'New Value is != Old Value' and click the 'Search' tab (or press Enter). You will now get a decent amount of results. Click the 'View' tab to view your results. I recommend testing in the area where other codes for the character your trying to hack was hacked first. Test the addresses with a value ranging from 1 - 10 in both the 'Value (Current value)' and 'PValue' sections. I.E., CV = 1 PV = 3. If it is not found there, test the other addresses in your results.

3) Highlight the address for testing. Click the 'Add' tab and enter the value 0 in the 'Enter New Value' field. Click 'Add' to return to the cheat menu. Press Esc until you return to the game.

4) If the character goes into hyper mode, congratulations! If they stop moving, that's a good sign. That means we either found the address were looking for, or were on an address in the right area for the code. In most cases, the address before or after this is the code. Press Esc, click Cheat --> Browse, toggle the code off, and re-enter it with the value 1. Click 'Add' and press Esc until you return to the game. The character should now be in hyper mode.

Note: The majority of games that I've hacked this code on, used the value 0 or 1 for hyper mode. There are times, however, when you will have to do a bit of trial-and-error to get the right value for the character to go into hyper mode. A good example of this is "Cool Spot." Cool Spot's hyper mode used the value 4.

Go to the 'Game Genie, Pro-Action Replay Codes' menu (Alt+E) and highlight the address to update the value. In the 'New Value (dec or hex)' field, enter the value 1 and click the 'Update' tab. Mario & Luigi's hyper mode used the value 6.
